Sundown Pastoral Company is a privately owned Australian agricultural and pastoral enterprise. They are renowned for innovative farming techniques, sustainable production methods and environmental stewardship. They produce cotton, beef and
cereal grains. Their achievements include producing the world’s first traceable carbon positive cotton and producing some of the highest yielding and water efficient crops on Earth. David Statham from Sundown will present a comprehensive overview of Sundown's dedication to natural fibres, regenerative agriculture, and product traceability.
Central to their business ethos is the growing, processing and marketing of natural fibres. Statham will elaborate on the company's sustainable farming practices, highlighting their efforts to minimize synthetic inputs and embrace organic alternatives, and delve into Sundown's approach to regenerative agriculture. Sundown’s sustainability also extends to a new partnership with green hydrogen company Hiringa Energy that involves the construction and operation of a renewable ammonia and green hydrogen production facility on their farm near Moree. The facility will feature a 27-megawatt solar farm designed to produce roughly 45,000 MWh of energy a year. The on-farm production of ammonia for fertilizer and hydrogen for energy will reduce Sundown’s fuel and fertilizer costs by 123%.
Sundown also prioritizes product traceability, offering consumers unparalleled transparency regarding the origin of their cotton and the production processes used to take it to market. Statham will elucidate Sundown's traceability systems and FibreTrace®, which empowers spinners (and consumers) to make informed choices aligned with their values.
